Lacking formal training in photography, I have learned through self-education and studying with established photographers both privately and at workshops. My training as a psychoanalyst has fostered my creativity and working intuitively with models. Rather than force them into my concepts, I work with their personality, ideas, and interests. I see them as true collaborators. Not suprisingly, my favorite models have had dance experience. Through the interactions of figure and ground, I am inspired by graphical elements to form images. Shapes, textures, light and shadows dance for me as I create. The influences on my work are as varied as the lighting influence of Dutch masters to the unconsciously inspired conceptions of the Surrealists. I attempt through my images to present alternative views of the world. Viewing my work is hopefully a time to experience and a time to dream.
