The flexibility and expressiveness that digital media provides me proved perfect for my style of heavily-layered imagery. Working with digital tools that are more commonly used for commercial purposes, I repurpose them to create fine art in the form of digital printmaking, digital video, and interactive digital works. I have begun to branch into installation combining these media with digitally manipulated audio scores, something I hope to do more of as I move forward to grad school. Overall, my work has been influenced by converging ideas about art, the media, and cultural theory. Each piece I create begins with an underlying concept that I wish to communicate. I am Interested in the intersection of memory and experience, the use of symbolism, and strive to create a pattern of visual thinking constructed with a vocabulary and syntax that is transcultural and accessible primarily through the seductiveness of the images. I prefer to allow my work to whisper rather than shout the secrets of its meaning. This allows the viewer to consider my work further, providing an opportunity for re-evaluation of his/her personal paradigms vis-a-vis the message of the work.
